Epilepsy Research UK invites you to the next in our series of live Research Roundtable webinars. This month we’ll be discussing epilepsy and genetics.
We’ll be hearing from the experts and people with lived experience about the underlying genetic causes of epilepsy, how identifying genes linked to epilepsy could improve treatments, and how ground-breaking gene therapy could offer hope for the future. The session is open to everyone and will be held at 11am on Friday 26th March (which is also Purple Day!).
So, whether you are affected by epilepsy, researching epilepsy, or just interested to learn more, we hope you can join us.
All previous Epilepsy Research UK webinar places have been filled before the event so register now to avoid disappointment!
Our fantastic guest speakers include:
- Craig – will discuss his personal experience of epilepsy
- Dr Charles Steward – Patient Advocacy and Engagement Lead at Congenica and father of a child with West syndrome, will discuss the fascinating human genome.
- Dr Kate Baker – Clinical geneticist at the University of Cambridge, will discuss how genetic mutations may provide answers for patients and their families.
- Dr Gabriele Lignani – Epilepsy Research UK Emerging Leader Fellow and researcher, Queen Square Institute of Neurology, University College London, will discuss how gene therapy could be used to rewrite a person’s genetic code and offer a potential treatment for epilepsy.
There will be a Q&A session with the speakers after the presentations, so please send any questions you may have to our Head of Research, Caoimhe Twohig-Bennett here.
